| About Me - My History |
| I was born in Aberdeenshire on the northeast coast of Scotland. As the fourth daughter of our house I was to be given to the church, but it was found I did not have a mild enough manner for it. My father did allow me to practice with my brothers at weaponry, as he did often find me there without permission. As time passed he did despair of ever finding me a suitable husband as I was a wee bit wild in my ways and thinking.
One summer I did meet Alasdair MacIain as he were traveling home from a cattle trade. He did not mind my rough ways and asked my Fathers permission to take me to Glencoe to become his wife. My chaperone and I did head out with them within a fortnight. We were to be married upon arrival in Glencoe after Alasdairs' family had given their permission. Alack, it was not to be. As we were about to get the banns read, the MacIain's Master Mariner, Alasdair Forbes, did call to the men to go to sea. My Alasdair did drown on the voyage after a storm.
I did stay in Glencoe to earn my keep with the MacIain's as a guard and helper to the Lady Joneen MacIain. It is she that does pay my wages and keep me as a companion. My Lord MacIain did create me a Dame of the Order of Saints John of Jeruseleum for my service to himself and his Lady wife and my new Clan.
After some time, I did have chance to meet Don Giovanni Marco di Abestanzi Conte di Pienza e Cavalieri di Santo Stephano, an Italian ambassador to Queen Mary's court. After some months had passed I did receive a missive from him requesting permission to court me as wife for himself. Now, as the proper lady that I am, I was astounded that he would be so forward. I did pass his missive to my Chief and his Lady for their consent. They did call Don Giovanni to them and demanded that he court me as was proper. Through them. So, The MacIain did take half of Don Giovanni's cargo and two of his ships from the voyage as payment for not sending the missive to them as it should have been. This then became the cost of securing my betrothal.
I waited very patiently for Don Giovanni Marco di Abestanzi Conte di Pienza e Cavalieri di Santo Stephano to return to Glencoe to seal his bargain, but Alas, he did not arrive and having had no word from him, I did despair of becoming a put aside wife.
Hence, when Caorann MacFarr, the Bard, did take a liking to me, I was not wont to refuse his advances. He was in the middle of telling me the most wonderous story, when my giggles did draw the attention of the women of our clan. They seemed both pleased and shocked at the same time and did bring us both before the Priest and demanded that we be married at once. Unfortunately this was done in full view of the English and the Mayor of the shire we were visiting did take my newly wedded husband to the Queens justice, as Bards are outlawed in England. He did die in their company.
I was married for ten minutes. But the half hour before that was quite lovely.
